In order to obtain the most satisfaction from the growing of your herbs plants, the proper amount of light, water, heat and fertilizer must be achieved as follows:
Light: sunlight is the most important requirement in growing herb plants. It is recommended that the plants be placed in a bright sunny window - either a southern or western exposure. A windowsill with southern exposure is ideal. The more sun the plant receives, the more satisfactory it will grow. It is also a good idea to turn the plants occasionally so that both sides get plenty of sun.
Water: the plant should be watered from the top about every third day in the average home. However, each house if different in temperature and humidity so it may be necessary for you to develop your own watering schedule for your plants. Never let the plant dry out completely - yet do not keep the soil too wet! Never mist herb plants as they like their foliage dry.
Temperature: not below 55 degrees at night and away from drafts and extreme heat, such as placing on top of a radiator. Fresh air is good - neither too hot or too cold or too dry.
Fertilization: it is very important for leaf production that herb plants be fertilized regularly at two week intervals. We suggest a liquid organic such as fish emulsion. Simply follow the directions on the package and water the plant with the solution.
Harvesting: the tender young fresh leaves and stems on most herbs may be harvested at any time to add the extra "fresh herb flavor" to your menus.
With the proper amount of light, moisture and fresh air your herb plants should offer you many days of successful indoor gardening with plenty of fresh organic leaves for harvesting.
